Huang Pu River Restaurant in Winnipeg

First time there tonite, our family of 12 were very happy with our Cantonese style dinner. It was very busy for Sunday nite business; however we received our meal in a timely manner. We had soup to begin with that was delicious and tasty. It followed with 8 other dishes. We were happy with all the dishes specifically the fish dish with ginger garlic and green onions. Our server was friendly with limited English. The decor is simple but clean. However there was a lingering smell of smoke or something in the restaurant. We saw some construction fans by the coat check area that might give a hint of some current issues. Limited parking in the busy strip mall. Will try restaurant again soon.

Good, cheap Chinese buffet on Pembina Highway with massive chicken wings. Be warned, this place is super Chinese and has a separate secret menu with no English.

Food tastes great and pretty cheap too. But the service is quite disappointing. If you want something spicy, must try the beef hot pot. And also ask for the Chinese menu.

They have really good food. I don't usually care about service but the service in this place is wonderful, very friendly and polite staff. Definitely come back here to try more dishes! Highly recommend it.

Great American Chinese food and authentic Chinese food in one location. They have split menus so you can have a bit of both. Great taste. Solid portion size and value.

If you are going, order food from the Chinese menu because it taste a lot better and it's authentic Chinese food. The waitresses range in styles, but overall are super nice and friendly. Most of the time I go, it's pretty busy and full. I don't have any favorite dishes, just that I prefer the Chinese style menu better. I've been there multiple times and I love it each time!

Only Sichuan style Chinese restaurant in Winnipeg. Fantastic food if you can handle the spices and MSG (yes, MSG is good for you in moderation). If an ethnic restaurant is empty, walk away! The Huang Pu is packed whenever it is open. Good stuff that soothes your soul and reminds you why foodgasm is needed.

Best place for Chinese food

Bad customer services, no receipt at all so i don’t know how much the staffs charged me. Won’t come back again.

There’s nothing to talk about the food, it was so good but the service disappointed me 🙂. The waitress was like she didn’t want to serve my friends and I. It was the first time that we came to that restaurant so we didn’t know at about 6pm they don’t serve small size. My friends ordered a bbq pork with a small size, she said they had only big size and it was ok for us. We then ordered a fried rice, we didn’t know they don’t serve small size for all the dishes at this time, so we ordered a small size. She was like “I already told you, ok, only big size” with a bad attitude, which annoys me a lot. We pay for our food, we didn’t deserve to be served like that. It’ll be better if the restaurant can improve the service.

Such delicious and well made food. If you're looking for some really good deep-fried chicke or beef this place has you covered. It's one of the better places to eat good chicken Szechuan or beef Szechuan.

Presented a Cantonese / Canadian Chinese food menu. Protested and was then given the menu with authentic mainland dishes. Food was overly salty and lacked spice.

Great food, and seving sizes are more than enough to walk away stuffed.

Other than the fact it is under staff and slightly slower service, it really is a great place for Chinese food. Very reasonable price as well and even better if you catch the happy hours discount! If you eat spicy, try the beef hotpot, it is my personal favorite there.

Had the 4 person meal today. My mother ordered it. She told me the last time it was better but I still found it acceptable.Servers were nice and gave us extra dessert to take home for free.There is a lot of Chinese restaurants that are westernized but this has a lot of more authentic dishes from what my mother said.

I would give a ZERO star if I have this option. I used to like this restaurant. But today I ordered for take out and miss one dish. I called back but they gave really bad attitude not even try to make up for their mistakes. Will not go back there again.

We stoped in to avoid the Marathon traffic and ordered off the menu. The food was really good and the portion sizes were much larger than expected.

Probably the best authentic Chinese food in Winnipeg but the service is not great. Orders are frequently mixed up. Tonight I got the wrong dish and only realized after trying the food. When I told them about the mix up they picked it up and put it on the correct table...

Great food friendly fast service and reasonable priced. You definitely have to try this place atleast once. They even pour your soup for you which few restaurants do.

Very enjoyable, large, tasty menu. Helpful staff even sorted out my alergy issues.

I absolutely love the lunch buffet. When dishes are low they are promptly replaced. Our drinks were brought out quickly, and our water was refilled often by diligent serving staff. The prices are extremely reasonable, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to have a Chinese buffet.

We go through Winnipeg every year. We would always come here for good food and friendly staff. This time the service is terrible. Cuts of the meat is atrocious. We will never visit here ever again.

Huangpu River Restaurant thankfully has not changed from its previous quality of Chinese cuisine. While certainly not the best in Winnipeg, it does offer enough variety and quality food at reasonable costs to warrant a trip.

I loved the deluxe special fried rice. However, service was really really poor. The waitress was very rude and almost got into a fist fight with me just coz I asked for a plate to scoop my food into. For starters I shouldn't be reminding her to give me a plate to dish my food, secondly why would anyone say "no" to a customer? Beats my imagination really.

Always a great experience. The food is exceptional and the service is great. We usually get the dry breaded shrimp and lemon chicken.

Been here several times, will never come back again. These mid age woman servers were really rude. last time I was there my server never tend to my need either I want to order , add water or anything, I have to walk up to the counter to order. She mixed up 3 types of our food in the box when I take out the leftovers. After I payed my bill I refused to add tips, she started to trash talk about not getting any tips, and doesn’t wanna give me my receipt.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Winnipeg. Love their pork belly dishes, the best in the city. Everything is reasonably priced. They even offer free dessert! Love it.

Food was not bad but we got no service at all.
